About CardStats
CardStats is a football stats site built entirely around discipline. While other sites bury this data under goals, assists and hundreds of other numbers, we make it the whole point: card records, foul counts, disciplinary history, recent form and key matchups, all in one place, to give you the edge in the card and foul markets.
We currently cover fourteen leagues across Europe and the Americas, from the Premier League to Liga MX. That's 262 teams, 7,352 players and 319 referees, with career history going back several seasons and over 100,000 cards and 600,000 fouls in the database. Stats are updated throughout the day, every day, and more leagues will be added once the transfer window closes.
We're still in beta, with new features landing all the time. More leagues, deeper stats and new tools are all on the way, and a lot of what gets built is shaped by what users ask for, so if there's something you want to see, tell us.
Our stats are based on each player's domestic league. We found this gives the clearest picture of how a player performs week in, week out across a full season. European and continental competitions aren't included yet, but they're on the way once those competitions hit the group stages.
Some of the leagues we cover haven't started their new season yet, so we show last season's numbers until there's enough of the new one to be useful. Each league switches over independently once it's a few games in, so you're never looking at a stat built on one or two matches.
Using the site
You can search for any player or referee using the search bars on the Players and Referees pages. Search by name to pull up their full profile: stats, history, recent form and more. You can also reach a player through their team's squad, or find players and referees directly from any match page.
The match page pulls everything we know about the discipline angle for a single game into one place, split into a few tabs:
Overview: the quick read on the match. The referee is front and centre with their cards and fouls per game, tapping through to their full profile, and each team's most-carded and most-fouled players are surfaced so you can see where the risk sits. Before lineups are confirmed it looks at the whole squad; once they're in, it narrows to the starting XI.
Line Ups: both starting elevens laid out on the pitch in formation, once teams are confirmed around an hour before kickoff. Pick the stat you care about (cards, fouls, tackles or fouls won), choose per game or recent form, and every player shows that number. There's a split option to show different stats for each side. Before lineups drop, it shows the full squads instead.
Matchups: the individual battles most likely to produce cards, grouped by area of the pitch, with the single biggest clash pulled out on top. A quick read on where the game's most likely to flare up.
Card Prone Attackers: the forwards most likely to be in the thick of card situations, each with a risk meter showing how card-prone they are.
The demo match is a fully built example fixture, pinned on the fixtures page, that lets you explore everything CardStats does without needing a live game. It's loaded with real data across every tab: overview, lineups, matchups and card-prone attackers, so you can get a feel for how the match page works any time.
Card and discipline news pulled together in one feed and updated through the day. Suspensions, bans, appeals and refereeing rows, without wading through everything else.
Watchlists are your own saved lists of players and referees to keep an eye on. Sign in and you can build a shortlist of whoever's discipline record matters to you.
Saving is one tap: there's a star on every player and referee in search, and an "Add to watchlist" button on each profile.
To find your lists, flip between Search and Watchlist with the toggle on the search page, or open them from the "My Watchlists" shortcut in the menu. You can sort by cards per game so the ones you're most interested in rise to the top, and each entry shows their next fixture so you can see who's in action and when. Remove anyone with a single tap, and it's tied to your account, so your watchlists follow you wherever you sign in.
Yes. CardStats can be added to your home screen on both Android and iPhone, so it opens like any other app rather than in a browser tab. Handy if you're switching between apps while you're placing a bet. Head to our install page for the steps.
Players
Each player profile leads with four headline per-game stats: cards, fouls, fouls won and tackles, plus total yellow and red cards, all colour-coded so you can read their discipline profile at a glance. Below that you'll find their recent form, career totals, and a season-by-season career history going back several years.
Recent form shows how a player has been performing across their last few games, rather than their season-long averages. Their recent opponents run across the top, then a strip for each stat, cards, fouls, tackles and fouls won, shows their numbers game by game, oldest to most recent, so you can spot a player heating up. Tap through for the full chart, where you can widen the view to the last 5, 10 or 15 games.
The form chart is a bigger, visual version of a player's recent form. Pick a stat, cards, fouls, fouls won or tackles, and it plots a bar for every game, each one coloured in that stat's colour with a reference line across the chart so you can see at a glance which games sat above or below the mark. The opponents run along the bottom, oldest on the left through to the most recent on the right. Use the games-shown toggle to look at the last 5, 10 or 15 matches.
Teams and leagues
Every team has six disciplinary stats: cards, fouls, fouls won and tackles per game, plus fouls per card and cards per foul, which tell you how much a side gets away with before a referee reaches for their pocket. Below that you'll find their last five games and the full squad, sorted by whichever stat you're interested in.
Every league we cover has its own page showing the players picking up the most cards, the teams giving away the most fouls, and the referees most likely to book someone. It's the quickest way into a league you don't follow closely.
Referees
Every referee has a profile laying out their disciplinary tendencies, so you know what to expect from the man in the middle. It leads with the two stats that matter most, cards per game and fouls given per game, backed up by yellows, reds, fouls per card (how many fouls they let go before reaching for a card, a read on how strict they are) and, for referees from Europe's biggest leagues, VAR involvements. Below that you'll find their recent matches game by game, career totals with a per game or totals view, and a season-by-season career history showing how their discipline has shifted over the years.
A referee's cards per game is the quickest read on how strict they are: simply the average number of cards they hand out per match. A high number flags a referee who reaches for their cards often, which is worth knowing when you're weighing up the card markets for a game. Pair it with fouls per card to get the full picture: a ref who gives plenty of cards but also lets a lot of fouls go is a different prospect to one who books players early and often.
